Quick Start
Starting PhotoQuest
1. Double click on the PhotoQuest icon.
2. Select "New" from the "File" menu.
3. Select a place to save the new blank document.
Registering Images (Add new images to the database)
1. Choose the "Register File" item from the "Record" menu.
2. Choose a folder to be scanned for image files.
3. The selected folder will be scanned and all image files found will be added to the database (this may take a little while if there are many files to be scanned).
Display Options
1. Clicking on a thumbnail displays the image in PhotoQuest.
2. Clicking on a thumbnail while holding down the "Option" key displays the image file in the application that created it.
3. If you drag the thumbnail to an application's icon the image file will be opened in that application. If you drag the thumbnail to a folder than the image file will either be moved or copied (the same as if you had dragged the file's icon in the Finder).
4. Clicking on a thumbnail while holding down the "Control" key opens the folder holding the image file and selects the file in the Finder.
Using Netscape or other internet browser's cache files:
1. Select the "Register File" command from the "Record" menu.
2. Select the browser's cache folder - ie: System Folder:Preferences:Netscape f:Cache f
3. All images in the cache folder will be automatically scanned and registered in the database.
4. Cached image files will be automatically deleted by the browser when the cache limits are reached, so save the images that you wish to keep by dragging the thumbnails to the any folder that you wish. They will be automatically moved from the cache folder.
Making Keywords and Filters
1. Choose an item from the database (horizontal or vertical display mode).
2. Choose the "Make Keyword" command from the "Selection" menu.
3. Choose the "Show Keyword" command from the "Selection" menu.
4. The Keywords for the selected item will be displayed in the Keyword list.
5. Select an item from the Keyword list.
6. Clicking on a Keyword displays images matching that Keyword.
7. You can reverse the filtering by choosing the "Show All" command from the "Selection" menu.
Registering Photo Quest
This software can be registered over the internet. A single user license is $39.50, site and world licenses are also available. For more detail on registering see the "How to Register" document or the "Register Photo Quest" application.

Terms of usage
In this document, “software” refers to all computer programs, codes, or documents included with this document, or any copy of any part of the items mentioned above. “you” refers to any entity that acquires this software.
You are licensed to use the software provided you respect the following terms:
You may:
1. Use the software for the purpose of evaluating it for a period of time not exceeding one month, beginning at the date that you begin using the software.
2. Redistribute the software to any person or organization, provided you redistribute a package identical to the one you obtained.
3. Make as many backup copies as you like of the software.
You may NOT:
1. Alter the software in any way.
2. Redistribute the software in an altered form.
3. Redistribute the software as a package that differs in any way from the one you obtained. (i.e., you may not add or remove elements of the package when redistributing it, or distribute any altered versions of the original elements).
You MUST:
Register the software by paying any applicable fees (Registration instructions are given in the documentation) after your evaluation period. When you have registered your copy, you may:
1. Use the software on as many computers as you like as long as you are the sole user of the software (ex: A single person installing the software on both his / her work and home machine, for personal use).
OR
2. In lieu of 1), you may install the software on ONLY one (1) computer for use by several people, as long as not more than one person at a time can use the software (ex: A person installing the software on a lab computer functioning for the benefit of many).

Redistribution
This software may be distributed via any means, physical or electronic. Excluded from this statement are organizations wishing to distribute this software in a commercial compilation, or organizations wishing to redistribute this software for profit. US Government:
Government End Users: If you are acquiring the Software on behalf of any unit or agency of the United States Government, the following provisions apply. The Government agrees:

If any provision of this agreement shall be found to be unenforceable, it shall be deemed severed from the remainder of this agreement.
